Sidr, known as jujube, has been used for many centuries in Middle Eastern and Ayurvedic beauty routines. The leaves were meticulously dried and then crushed into a fine powder, which was incorporated into various hair and skincare treatments. These practices valued the leaves for their natural ability to cleanse and nourish the skin and hair.
In traditional hair care, sidr powder was applied as a cleansing agent or mask to promote stronger hair roots, improve hair texture, and add shine.
It was also thought to contribute to a healthy scalp and help prevent early hair loss. Historically, women favored it for its ability to make hair soft, smooth, and easy to manage without the use of chemical products.
For skincare, sidr powder functioned as a mild cleanser and exfoliant.
When blended with water or rose water, it was effective in removing dirt and impurities while helping to maintain a clear, even skin tone. Its gentle astringent qualities made it suitable for balancing the skin in traditional beauty regimens.
Currently, sidr powder continues to be a key component in herbal shampoos, conditioners, face masks, and soaps.
Its long-standing reputation as a natural cleanser and hair-strengthening element ensures its ongoing presence in contemporary natural cosmetic products.
