Vacha (Acorus Calamus): The "Aromatic Intelligence," widely known as Vacha or Sweet Flag. It belongs to the Acoraceae family. It is a semi-aquatic, perennial herb. The aromatic, sword-shaped leaves characterize the plant. These leaves grow in dense tufts. They emerge from a thick, creeping rhizome. The plant usually grows to a height of 1 to 1.5 meters. Vacha thrives in marshy tracts, riverbanks, and wetlands across the Northern Hemisphere. Experts consider its native range indigenous to Central Asia and the Himalayan region. This includes India, Nepal, and Bhutan. Since then, it has become naturalized in many other temperate regions globally.

In Ayurveda, Vacha (Acorus calamus) is traditionally categorized as a Medhya Rasayana. This group includes rejuvenating herbs believed to enhance Medha (intellect) and cognitive endurance. "Vacha" is a Sanskrit name, meaning "speech." This reflects its historical application in managing voice-related concerns.
