General Usage
Ancient medical treatment has great significance of T. arjuna. Arjuna bark has been described as an astringent, demulcent, expectorant, cardiotonic, styptic, antidysenteric. Traditionally, the bark has been useful in the treatment of fracture, ulcers, leukorrhea, diabetes, anemia, cardiopathy, and cirrhosis. It is also used to cure blood diseases, anemia, venereal and viral disease and promotes overall wellbeing.
Overview
Terminalia arjuna (Arjuna) belongs to the family Combretaceae. For centuries decoction of Arjuna bark has been used in anginal pain, hypertension, congestive heart failure, and dyslipidemia. It possesses anti-ischemic, antioxidant, hypolipidemic, and antiatherogenic activities.
