General Usage
In traditional medicine, Foeniculum vulgare is used for treating diseases related to digestive, endocrine, reproductive, and respiratory systems. It also acts as a galactagogue agent for lactating mothers. Fennel seeds have also shown antioxidant, antitumor, chemopreventive, cytoprotective, hepatoprotective, hypoglycemic, and oestrogenic activities.

Foeniculum vulgare commonly termed as fennel seeds are popular as a traditional medicine because of its antifungal, antibacterial, antioxidant, antithrombotic and hepatoprotective activities. Fennel seeds are also extensively used in various cuisines because of its aroma and flavour. It is rich in flavonoids, phenolic compounds, fatty acids, and amino acids and therefore, widely used in nutraceutical products and herbal supplements.
