Capsicum annuum (Bird’s Eye Chilli) Fruit is crucial for the regulation of vision, growth, and reproduction. In Ayurveda, C. annuum is considered important for its Guna (properties) – ruksha (dry), laghu (light) and tikshna (sharp); Rasa (taste) – katu (pungent); and Virya (potency) – ushna (hot). The fruit is a common condiment/ spice in the Indian cuisine, Indonesian cuisine, and Thai cuisine.

Capsicum annuum, Bird’s Eye Chilli or belongs to family Solanaceae. C. It is small and quite hot (piquant). C. annuum demonstrates lipid-lowering, antihypertensive, antidiabetic and anti-obesity effects. It is considered rich in carotenoids and capsaicinoids, which are precursor to vitamin A and several other nutrients. The Bird’s Eye Chilli Fruit is employed in treatment of dyspepsia accompanied by flatulence. It is cultivated across Southeast Asia and extensively used in Asian cuisine.
