Capsicum annuum (Chilli) Fruit is crucial for the regulation of vision, growth, and reproduction. In Ayurveda, C. annuum is considered important for its Guna (properties) – ruksha (dry), laghu (light) and tikshna (sharp); Rasa (taste) – katu (pungent); and Virya (potency) – ushna (hot). The fruit is a common condiment/ spice in the Indian spice family.

Capsicum annuum, chilli, belongs to family Solanaceae and grown into a large shrubby perennial herb. C. annuum demonstrates lipid-lowering, antihypertensive, antidiabetic and anti-obesity effects. It is considered rich in carotenoids and capsaicinoids, which are precursor to vitamin A and several other nutrients. The Chilli Fruit is employed in treatment of dyspepsia accompanied by flatulence.
