General Usage
Brown Mustard is prevalent in Europe, Africa, North America, and Asia. Traditionally, the Brassica juncea seeds have been used for their antibiotic effect. The seeds are also considered folk remedy for arthritis, foot ache, lumbago, and rheumatism. Mustard seed oil is also used in the treatment of skin eruptions and ulcers. It is used as counterirritant and stimulant as well.

Brassica juncea belongs to the mustard family of Brassicaceae and commonly named as brown mustard, Chinese mustard, and oriental mustard. Brown mustard seeds are a popular condiment in Indian subcontinent. The seeds have components like glucosinolates, sterols, and phenols that aids in treatment of tumor, non-genetic diabetes, hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia, hypercholesterolemia, etc.
