Overview
Boswellia Serrata (Salai guggul), a moderate-sized tree of the family Burseraceae, grows in dry mountainous regions of India, Northern Africa, and the Middle East. The resinous part of Boswellia Serrata contains acetyl-11-keto-β-boswellic acid, which is the most potent inhibitor of 5-lipoxygenase, an enzyme responsible for inflammation.
