Controlled airflow, strict cleanroom protocols and continuously monitored environments ensure freshness and quality remain intact from arrival to dispatch. All our operations run on SAP systems and are supported by Organic, FFL, GMP, FSSC 22000, FSMA, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and several other accreditations and certifications.

Plant Profile
Rubia cordifolia, commonly known as Manjistha or Indian Madder, is a perennial climbing plant. It grows as a vine or scrambling herb and can reach up to about 6 meters in length. The stems are thin and have four sides. Small, hooked prickles grow along the stem edges and help the plant climb over nearby plants.
The leaves stay green throughout the year. They are heart-shaped to oval and grow in circular groups of four to eight around the stem. Rubia cordifolia grows across many parts of Asia, from warm to cooler regions. In India, it is mainly found in hilly and subtropical areas and is cultivated in Rajasthan and the North-Eastern states.
Healthcare Perspective
In Ayurveda, Rubia cordifolia is known as Manjistha. It is best known as a herb that supports clean and healthy blood. It is mainly used to calm excess Pitta. Manjistha is widely used for skin care, where it helps improve skin tone and supports a clear complexion. It is also used to support liver function and the lymphatic system, which are important for natural detox processes. Manjistha is also used in other traditional systems of medicine. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, where it is called Qiancao, and in Tibetan medicine, the stems and roots are used to support circulation and blood balance. These systems also use it to reduce internal heat and inflammation, especially in the digestive and urinary systems. In folk medicine across parts of Asia and Africa, the plant is used both externally for wound care and internally for menstrual comfort and urinary health.
Phytochemical Composition
The main active compounds in Rubia cordifolia belong to a group called anthraquinones. These compounds give the plant both its medicinal value and its long-standing use as a natural red dye. Important anthraquinones found in the plant include purpurin, munjistin, pseudopurpurin, and rubiadin. Other related compounds, such as alizarin and xanthopurpurin, are also present. The plant also contains small peptide compounds known as RA-series peptides. In addition, it provides triterpenoids like oleanolic acid and flavonoids such as quercetin and rutin. Tannins and iridoids are present as well. Together, these compounds explain Manjistha’s traditional use for reducing inflammation, supporting antioxidant activity, and helping protect against microbial imbalance.
