Plant Profile
Leptadenia reticulata is commonly known as Jivanti. It is a valuable woody climbing shrub. The plant belongs to the Apocynaceae family. It is easily identified by its deeply cracked, cork-like bark. The plant bears greenish-yellow, star-shaped flowers. These flowers grow in clusters called umbellate cymes. The aerial parts include cylindrical stems. The stems are grayish-brown in color. The leaves are ovate and leathery. Their upper surface is smooth. The lower surface is finely hairy. Jivanti mainly grows in tropical and sub-tropical regions of India. It is commonly found in the sub-Himalayan belt. It is also seen in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.
